A component of Bonenta’s lead synthetic biologic bone graft device is BMP (bone morphogenetic protein) placing our developing product in a class with two other commercially available synthetic bone graft products that also utilize BMP in the multi-billion dollar market that includes jaw, spine, and orthopedic repair. However, Bonenta enhances the BMP activity with an additional, proprietary regulatory mechanism, creating regulator for the BMP which doubles the BMP dose-effectiveness, binds excess BMP, and provides for the natural physiological activating mechanism to control BMP delivery and extent of activity. In other words, Bonenta’s technology improves BMP for bone grafting.
In our most recent comparative animal trial, Bonenta’s biologically activated bone graft (B247) generated more than 5 times the volume of new bone in only 3 wks of healing as compared to the current market-leading device after 6 wks healing. Importantly, B247 required only a fraction (one 50th) of the BMP-2 dose to achieve these results. Bonenta’s technology, therefore, has potential to dramatically improve both the efficacy and safety profile of the class, positioning B247, as the best, safest, and most cost-effective synthetic bone graft in the world.
