Bonenta is developing novel drug-eluting synthetic
bone grafts that will dominate the industry with the safest, most effective bone healing technology.
Bonenta, Inc. has exclusive license to a platform technology, patented in late 2006, with enormous potential for discovery of new drugs for bone healing. This technology allows us to create hundreds of thousands of potentially useful modifications to what scientists have found to be critical molecules for growth and healing.
Our discovery originated from the analysis of decades of research describing the co-receptor regulation of growth proteins called growth factors (see DeCarlo & Whitelock, 2006 (PDF) and Ellis et al, 2010 (BioMed Central)). As the complicated synthesis of the co-receptor would be dauntingly impractical for the manufacturing process, Bonenta predicted and proved that adding a DNA pro-drug for a small portion of the co-receptor would double the dose-effectiveness of BMP as a therapeutic. In two different models of bone synthesis - the first, healing of a bone wound, and the second, ridge augmentation requiring building bone on top of existing bone, – our hypothesis was confirmed. Currently 4 US patents protect Bonenta’s technology and international protection is pending.
